ABOUT THE SERVICE
The Lightning Risk Assessment study are conducted for the building structures in order to determine probability of risk associated to lightning strike and the type of damages due to it. This study considers environmental factors such as overall area of the facility, surrounding environment and the lightning flash density of the area. These environmental factors are assessed for the tolerable limits and thus the recommendations for required protection system are made.
Lightning Protection standards are updated from time to time and thus ensuring their compliance with the same is also a requirement. Even in some cases, it has been observed that due to the absence of design basis of the old protection system, compliances are not met. In such scenarios, Lightning Risk Assessment studies are suggested along with testing & inspection of old installation for integrity and proper functionality.
In general, Lightning Risk Assessment study shall be considered as the primary stage of Installation of Lightning protection for the building where it is decided whether the protection system is required or not.
